Road Trip!

Published by under Daily Brief

NOTE: I’ve updated this post since Friday, February 27.

Ok, now this sounds just ridiculous (and it is)! I actually forgot that I was going on a road trip. I’ve had a Phoenix/LA trip planned for a little while now and forgot. How does something like that happen? You combine my dumb brain with how awesome Nashville is.

So I’m about to leave the BNA for the PHX and then onto the LAX.

What that means for you is that the Why Guys Aren’t Asking You Out series won’t continue until Monday, March 9  because I spent too much of yesterday getting ready for my trip. And, again, because I planned so poorly, After-Lunch Breakdance won’t be back until March 9.

I never took a full week off from working after I quit my job and since I’m hanging out and catching up with friends so much on this trip, I decided maybe this should be the occasion for vacation. But it’s a season of living and learning for me. Other than going to a place where it’s 85 and sunny, I feel sad about this! Next time I leave town for a long time, I’ll have my junk together!!!

The best I can do for you over the next week is a crappy/awesome LOL Cat.

Think about life a little this week. Smile at someone you don’t know. Dance at least once. Yeah, even you, dudes! Peace for now, friends! -andy

After-Lunch Breakdance: February 26, 2009

Published by under After-Lunch Breakdance

For those of you new to After-Lunch Breakdance, WELCOME!! Check this out to know what’s going on. If you can’t see the YouTube videos, it means your work or RSS reader is blocking them. Forward to yourself at home to see it!

Inspiration Station
My brothers and I used to be addicted to infomercials. Every Saturday and Sunday morning, cartoons and infomercials dominated in our house. And let me be the first to assure you that we have actually purchased infomercial products. Our kitchen here in Nashville (I live with my bros in case you didn’t know) is outfitted with our second set of Pasta Pots! Yes, they actually are just as cheap as you’d imagine (in price and quality) but they work so freaking well!

And while the King of Infomercials is a toss up between Ron Popeil and Billy Mays, the undisputed Cheese Bag is Tony Little. But he’s probably a rich Cheese Bag. The following video underscores today’s blog title – Inspiration Station. Really, I don’t even know where to start and where to end ripping on this video. So I’m going to make a contest out of it down below. I’m going to want to know the funniest thing you see in the video.

Shorts Week  – Short #4
This isn’t exactly a short, but it is. Honda’s tag is The Power of Dreams and they put out this incredible documentary series called Dream the Impossible. These “short-umentaries” are so good that if Hondas weren’t so expensive (or I had more money), I’d buy one. Congratulations Honda Marketing Team! You’ve done your job well! On 3 views, I can’t pinpoint why the first 3 minutes are so powerful, but they really got me! Once you click play, click the HD icon that shows up in the bottom right of the video if you’ve got bandwidth to see it in higher quality.

FREE MUSIC!
In keeping with today’s theme of Inspiration Station, I’m giving away 10 copies of a single that has meant a ton to me. I’ve cried a lot of tears to this song. It’s by a musician who has really been an I-don’t-know-you-but-you’re-my-best-friend-through-music person – a guy named Chris Rice. His album Smell the Color 9 helped me through most of 1999 (amazing that music has such power even 10 years after the fact!). The song is called Life Means So Much.

As I alluded to above, I’m combining the absurd with the inspiring. Tell me the funniest thing in the Tony Little video. I was going to do Top 10 best observations will get a copy of Life Means So Much through iTunes. But I’m going to do Top 5. And the other 5 I’m giving away just for letting me know you were here. Just say “Yo, bro!” and you’ll be in. Registration ends at 10pm CST.

Really, I love that I get to share part of my day with you. Even if it’s electronic and kind of impersonal. It’s cool nonetheless and I’ll probably never stop saying it!

I’m done. I’m gone! HOLLA, PEEPS!!! -andy

For those of you new to After-Lunch Breakdance, WELCOME!! Check this out to know what’s going on. If you can’t see the YouTube videos, it means your work or RSS reader is blocking them. If I could blast through the filter, I would. But I can barely bench press 100 pounds, so I think you’re fresh out of luck! Send the link to yourself to check out at home!

In Case You Were Wondering
Once upon a time, I was working on a series called, “Why Guys Aren’t Asking You Out.” Once upon a time, I was going to finish it. Once upon a time, the series continues Friday morning at 6am!

Shorts Week #3
Shorts week continues with a short by Erez Tadmor. The beautiful thing about this short is that any intro would only serve to make watching it less enjoyable. So enjoy…

Strangers

FREE MUSIC!
Two giveaways today!

1. If you win the drawing, any iTunes album is yours! It’s as simple as commenting. Even something simple like, “Hey!” gets you entered. Just let me know you’re here. Or write a witty/insightful comment. It’s all good and it all gets you entered. Registration ends at 10pm CST.

2. The second contest…there is something unique about Strangers (the short). The first person to correctly tell me what is unique wins an iTunes single of their choice. Ready? Guess!

I’m done. I’m gone! HOLLA!!! -andy

Bits of Tids (Or Tidbits)

  • For lent this year, I’ve decided to give up giving things up. I’m setting myself up for success!
  • People like to say, “I love them to death.” I think we need to get a better way to capture how much we love someone. Why is killing someone be the way to express the magnitude of your love?
  • In a similar vein, “He’s so cute, I could eat him up.” We’ve moved into cannibalism? “You’re so adorable, I want to gnaw on your elbow!”
  • I realized last night, that for the most part, Reebok is the Walmart of shoes. Yeah, they work, but you feel weird every time you see the logo. Also to me, New Balance is the Werther’s Original of shoes. Don’t hate me. I know they make great shoes!
  • I don’t mind getting old, but I don’t want to wear all black, all white, or all gray shoes. Ever.

Short Week Day #2
Spike Jonze is a money director and this little short is a winner for about 3 or 4 different reasons.

How They Get There

FREE MUSIC!
Rules… Leave a comment (with something as simple as “Here” or “Holla” or “Hippo”) and you’re entered for today’s drawing for THE FRAY’S new album. I can’t stop listening to it in my car, humming bad melodies and even worse harmonies. I’m a car dancer, myself. Who needs the expense of a soul train when you can just have a soul car? Registration for music ends at 10pm CST.

That’s all I wrote! HOLLA!!! -andy
